Travel Program
Representing Rockbridge County Proudly
The RUSC Travel Program is the highest level of play within the club. Teams will compete with surrounding communities throughout the western side of Virginia and seek to push themselves competitively. Many players who participate in the program go on to play and feature for local high school programs and possibly beyond in collegiate play.
This program focuses on individual growth, team development, and building lifelong friendships in a competitive and supportive environment. Participation requires a significant amount of commitment and dedication. Coaches seek to form competitive team environments that will push players to grow and develop as soccer players but also have fun and play the game of soccer with other like minded players. All players must go through an evaluation process to be selected for the team and full participation in team events is expected.

-
Team Commitment
Travel Teams practice two times per week with matches on the weekends (mostly Saturdays, but some Sunday play is possible). This involves an 8-10 game season, half of which are played in Lexington or Rockbridge County. Teams are expected to compete in one out-of-town tournament per season.
Teams in the U11 through U13 age groups will participate in both the fall and spring seasons. Players at this level often progress on to play high school soccer. Therefore, U14 and older teams will only participate in the fall season to avoid conflicts with high school play.
-
League Play
RUSC Travel teams compete in the VCSL (Virginia Club Soccer League). Divisions are formed from neighboring communities in the western part of the state of Virginia. Teams will play a minimum of 8 league matches per season with half of those matches at home in Rockbridge County and the remainder away. Additional friendly matches and other games will be at the discretion of the program coordinator and team coaches.
-
Tryouts
All Players must go through an evaluation or tryout to be selected for the Travel program. The annual tryouts are typically held in May for the next year of play. Other tryout opportunities will be identified as positions on teams allow throughout the year. Players who do not make the game roster may be invited to join as practice players at a reduced cost.
-
Registration Fees
$400 per season.
U11 thru U13 teams are expected to participate in both the fall and the spring season.
U14 and older teams will just participate in the Fall season.
*Uniforms must be purchased separately from capellisport.com. Team Uniforms are on a two year cycle and may be used again when possible. Financial Assistance
The purpose of the RUSC Financial Aid program is to provide financial support for families with the greatest need so that they may participate in RUSC programs without financial hardship. Financial aid is available in the fall and spring for qualifying families in the Recreation, Challenge and Travel programs based on demonstrated need and RUSC’s ability to fund the assistance.
FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION AND APPROVAL
All families requesting financial aid must complete a Financial Aid Form. All financial aid requests will be reviewed by staff and will be kept confidential. Applicants for financial aid MUST APPLY EACH TAX YEAR (April 15-April 15), with complete and current Information. The level of aid for which an applicant qualifies can be requested for programs throughout the year. However, each financial aid request must be approved for each program. Each financial aid request is subject to available funds. Any financial aid awards given will apply only to the current program registration.
